The Challenge
Operating in a fast-scaling, entrepreneurial environment, the business needed to establish a more robust FP&A and finance business partnering capability. The newly created Director-level role was tasked with redesigning processes, embedding financial discipline, and supporting ambitious growth plans — all while building a team capable of operating at pace. Flexibility, delivery mindset, and cultural fit were critical.
The Solution
JSS worked closely with the Director to design a fit-for-purpose FP&A team structure and determine the optimal mix of interim and permanent hires. Business-critical roles were filled via flexible temp-to-perm solutions, while other positions were appointed on a permanent basis. A highly targeted screening process prioritised candidates who were knowledgeable, hands-on, and comfortable driving transformation, resulting in some roles progressing only a single candidate through to offer.
The Impact
JSS successfully placed three contractors and four permanent hires into the FP&A function. Within four months, the client had fully onboarded key personnel and established an engaged, collaborative team capable of supporting the business’s next phase of growth. The success of the build demonstrated the value of combining technical rigour with a strong focus on personality and cultural alignment.
